The 64th Annual Tony Awards Winners List

Celebrity News: Johansson Tonys

Taking place on a rather soggy Sunday this year, the 64th annual Tony Awards honored the best in theater at Radio City Music Hall tonight. Hosted by Sean Hayes this year, who was also nominated for Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Musical, the ceremony saw some surprise winners, including Hollywood beauty, Scarlett Johansson. It's not an Oscar, but she did secure the Best Performance By A Featured Actress In A Play award for her work in "A View From the Bridge". In her acceptance speech, she proudly proclaims, “Ever since I was a little girl I wanted to be on Broadway, and here I am."

Eddie Redmayne was also an early winner for his role in “Red”, winning Best Performance by a Featured Actor in a Play. The play itself, a drama revolving around painter Mark Rothko and the dilemma between art and “selling out,” was a huge hit, receiving the six awards including Best Play. Upon receiving his honor, an ecstatic Redmayne gushed, "This is the stuff dreams are made of. Wow.”
